Raising voices, spirits, and extravagance in the three-day long Intramurals 2023 in Velez College, this has undoubtedly proved to make one of the most thrilling and electrifying events of the academic year! With Velezians as the stars of the show, Intramurals shone brilliance and dazzling, as we unify in the spirit of camaraderie and fellowship, scintillating as one constellation. Defined as more than just fun and games, the essence of the event gave meaning to virtue and forthrightness, all the while advocating the unifying aspect of comradeship among different individuals, different classes, and of different departments.

Velez College opened Intramurals 2023 on the first day with three anticipated competitions; The Bench Cheers, Dance Performance Competition, and the Miss and Mister Intramurals 2023. With the introduction of the intramurals, the passing of the torch and flame, the athletes and competitors of the four hues welcome themselves under the brightest spotlights, but in the peak of their confidence and determination, they’ll never be blinding. Every single person involved in the event has prepared for the event one way or another, whether it may be from the benches, to the fields, or to the sporty courts, Velezians come with fierce and readiness.

Beginning with the Bench Cheer, the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Medical Technology, Nursing, and Rehabilitative Sciences have solidified the competitive spirit in the Cebu Coliseum with their vibrant cheers. Within just days of preparations and practices prior, the four colleges have redeemed themselves worthy in more ways than one through this competition and has unquestionably set the start of the intramurals with the competitive atmosphere.

Following the Bench Cheer, was the Dance Performances which illuminated the Coliseum with intense and powerful movements. The Navigators (College of Arts and Sciences), Mavericks (College of Medical Technology), Lipschitz ( College of Nursing), and the Zoids (College of Occupational and Physical Therapy) have concluded their days and weeks of preparation, presenting their ardency in their dance. With all their efforts on the plate, the competition was a plethora of sentiment and pressure, as the competitors felt the weight of the stage under their feet.

The last but still equally anticipated highlight before the sport matches began, was the competition for Mister and Miss Intramurals 2023. Mr. Josh Emmanuel P. Po and Ms. Lara Nina S. Roa represented the College of Arts and Sciences, Mr. Alfonso Joaquin Gruet and Ms. Natalie Kirsten Lim for the College of Occupational and Physical Therapy, Mr. Kyle Brent Paltingca and Ms. Allianah Blessy Rusiana for the College of Medical Technology, and Mr. Shane Chloe L. Nasayao and Ms. Angela Ishi Bernise A. Caman for College of Nursing. These representatives of the four hues have redeemed themselves worthy, walking with pride and confidence across the stage and leading their respective colleges towards the podium. The preparations were hectic and full-packed, from pre-preparations prior, to looking astounding and breathtaking, and for the overall experience. The world being their oyster, their words as sharp as their swords, their walks as sophisticated as their minds, each of them has nothing left behind, and a crown to claim.

The competitiveness and sportsmanship doesn’t just stop there, the athletes of the four colors show what they’re made of in the various games, matches, and contests! From the range of ball sports such as Volleyball, Basketball, Flag Football, and Soccer, to Badminton, Table Tennis, Swimming, Mobile Legends and CODM, to the battle of wits in chess, general info quizzes, essay writing, and spelling bees. The athletes of the respective sport compete to win and to redeem, for the team and with the team. They have practiced with effort and sweat, but there is only so much they can expect on the real match with the opposing team. Nervous, thrilling, exhilarating, the experience is with endless excitement, as both the athletes and the supporters on the benches create their own world of flourishing amusement from the match, this has made the overall experience of Intramurals impassioned and animated.

As the third day of the Velez University intramurals descended into the inky embrace of night, the fervor for sports showed no sign of waning. The games were intense, the stakes were high, and the players were determined. It was an electrifying prelude to what would be a climactic and unforgettable fourth day.

As the sun finally emerged from the horizon, the fourth day's events began with a solemn prayer, followed by the stirring rendition of the Philippine national anthem and the Velezian hymn. The harmonious voices of the Medical Technology Euphonix set the mood, evoking a sense of unity and camaraderie.

Hans and Ali, the charismatic masters of ceremony, took the stage, infusing the event with even more excitement. They kept the audience engaged and eager for what lay ahead.

Dean Pamiela Demecillo of the College of Medical Technology graced the occasion with her opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork. The crowd hung on to her every word, their anticipation building.

The climax of the day arrived with the vocal competition. Representatives from each department showcased their talents through solos and duets, creating a musical showdown that had the audience on the edge of their seats. Just when the thrill reached its zenith, last year's vocal competition winner, Jesu Tuburan, and Mr. Intramurals, Kyle Brent Paltingca, mesmerized the crowd with their intermission performances, adding an unexpected twist to the competition.

The denouement was a poignant reminder of the power of unity, teamwork, and the indomitable spirit of the Velezian community. The 2023 intramurals had not just been a competition; it had been a testament to the unwavering dedication and shared sense of purpose that bound the entire university. As the day came to a close, the echoes of victory and camaraderie reverberated throughout the campus, leaving an enduring memory of an epic chapter in Velezian history.

Intramurals 2023 in Velez College has definitely made its mark on everyone’s calendars, an event of thrill and excitement, of unity and sportsmanship in the names of the different hues, the four colleges have gathered as one for the event, a core memory three days’ worth. Truly an experience that sticks like design on the skin, whether it may be yellow, green, blue, or red, Velezians have created a mosaic of fellowship through this experience.

The suspense continued to mount as the judges tallied the scores, and the time came to recognize the outstanding athletes. Awardees from each sport and event were announced and awarded medals and certificates. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation.

The Medical Technology Mavericks then took the stage, holding their hard-earned trophy from their winning performance. Their exhilarating routine left the audience in awe and signaled the impending announcement of the overall champion.

The moment of truth had arrived. The scores were in, and the winning department could have been any of the formidable contenders: the CAS Titans, the Nursing Blue Knights, the Physical and Occupational Therapy Spartans, or the reigning champions, the Medical Technology Vikings. The tension was palpable as the crowd held its breath.

In an exhilarating climax, the Department of Medical Technology Vikings was declared the Intramurals 2023 Champions for the fifth consecutive year. The Velez Gym erupted in celebration as students, faculty, and staff from every department rejoiced and congratulated one another for their collective efforts.
